One of my favourite places is San Lorenzo - a village not far from Suvereto, the characteristic mediaeval town renowned for its wild-boar feast (Sagra del Cinghiale) and its marriage ceremonies and feasts in mediaeval costume, which attract tourists in search of bygone times. San Lorenzo takes pride of place in the Val di Cornia for its production of high
quality extra virgin olive oil and the excellent wines that have received the approbation of wine connoisseurs worldwide.
There are many holiday homes and farm holiday establishments in this peaceful haven, which is also a paradise for cyclists and sports teams of good level (the champion Davide Rebellin trained on these roads) owing to absence of heavy traffic and the good climate that makes cycling a pleasant experience, even during the winter months.
The sea air mingles with that of the woods; flowered fields, vast expanses of sunflowers, the many colours of this plain and above all the greens of the vineyards and olive groves make it a truly beautiful place. Not far away, there is the Montioni Nature Park, where one can trek and admire wild animals and the plants typical of the Mediterranean shrub, and where one can truly relax in the midst of a hospitable landscape.
